A. File your Notice of Mechanic's Lien. You can always remove the mechanic's lien if you are paid, but if you're not paid and you missed the deadline, you will lose the opportunity to file the mechanic's lien.

Q. Should I file a lien for more money than is really owed?

A. NO! If you exaggerate the lien amount, you can be held liable for the exaggerated amount!

Q. If I file a Mechanic's Lien, am I guaranteed to get paid?

A. Unfortunately, NO! You would get paid monies still owed from the Owner to the Contractor. If the contractor was paid all of the monies owed by the Owner to the Contractor, its possible that you cannot be paid. However, unless you file a Mechanic's Lien within the required time frames, you cannot protect your rights.
